The Melbourne Rebels, currently sitting on 5 of 15 possible log points, have a massive challenge this weekend as they take on the Reds without star player Kurtley Beale. Beale who has previously won Australian rugby union player of the year is out for up to 5 weeks due a fractured third metacarpal in his left hand. His injury took place in the Rebels fixture against the Waratahs last Friday.
James O’Connor steps into the key fly-half role but will certainly miss the presence, impact and work ethic of team mate Beale with whom he has been interlinking and playing off so well thus far this season.
Also unavailable for this weekend’s clash are regular captain Gareth Delve, Chris Thomson, Cooper Vuna, Jason Woodward and Kimami Sitauti.
