Following the injury to his anterior cruciate ligaments against the Stormers in Brisbane last year Sam Lane has requested that the Waratahs release him from his current contract.
21 year old Sam left the Reds for the Waratahs at the beginning of this season in a move closer to home as his family are based in Sydney. His hope in being released from his current contract is to achieve match fitness at club rugby level for Manly before re-entering the Super Rugby fray.
He underwent two operations (one on each knee) in March and April last year respectively and has now fulfilled his rehab requirements and is desperate to get back onto the pitch.
We will monitor Sam’s progress at Manly and fill you in on any news as begins his come back toward Super Rugby. The Waratahs will be keen to make use of his talent combining him with Barnes and Folau in their powerful and exiting backline. Hopefully it will only be a matter of weeks rather than months before he makes his Waratahs debut.
Good on ya Sam!
